말하다([mal-ha-da/speak]) is the basic verb for speaking, saying, or telling something. In polite speech, say 말해요([mal-hae-yo]).
For languages, Koreans usually use 하다 (to do) instead of 말하다. Say 한국어를 해요 (han-gu-geo-reul hae-yo) for "I speak Korean". Use 말하다 when you mean "say" or "tell", as in 사장님께 말했어요 (I told the boss).
Say 천천히 말하세요 (cheon-cheon-hi mal-ha-se-yo) or 천천히 말해 주세요 (Please speak slowly). It is very useful when you did not understand Korean the first time.
